J.B. Dondolo’s "100 Voices for Our Planet"
The "100 Voices for Our Planet" initiative, part of the UN Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, is led by J.B. Dondolo and its founder Lumbie Mlambo. This initiative aims to inspire individuals to live intentionally and eco-consciously to reduce the devastation of ecosystems caused by various manmade activities. It provides a significant platform to amplify voices working towards sustainability and environmental stewardship.
This end-of-year Accountability Report highlights the importance of collective action in advancing sustainability. Among the first 25 voices recognised for their contributions, Marianne Magnin’s inclusion acknowledges her dedication to leveraging arts and innovation as tools for positive environmental and societal change.
TCAF and Marianne Magnin are deeply appreciative of this inclusion, which brings greater visibility to their work and the causes they champion. This initiative brings together rich perspectives as an invitation to foster collaboration and driving solutions to global challenges.
Marianne Magnin: A Voice for Change
Marianne Magnin’s recognition as part of the "100 Voices for Our Planet" underscores her role as an advocate for integrating creativity and sustainability. As a thought leader, she has consistently worked to bridge the arts with global sustainability goals, championing approaches that inspire collaboration and action.
Her work is closely tied to the mission of The Cornelius Arts Foundation (TCAF), an organisation she leads that seeks to create lasting impact by addressing sustainability through the arts. This recognition reflects both her personal dedication and the broader impact of TCAF’s initiatives.
TCAF’s Contributions to Sustainability
TCAF operates at the intersection of arts and sustainability, focusing on:
Broadening Perspectives: Using art to challenge traditional views of consumption and nature, fostering ecological awareness.
Driving Inclusivity: Advocating for equitable systems that respect both environmental and social dimensions.
Innovating Governance Models: Creating spaces that empower local communities and encourage collaborative problem-solving.
Through these efforts, TCAF demonstrates how creativity can drive meaningful environmental and societal change, aligning with global frameworks such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TCAF’s initiatives specifically address SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Measuring and Scaling Impact
One of TCAF’s core deliverables - and its "meta-impact" - is to support accountability and transparency by developing innovative tools to measure systemically the impact of creative interactions, such as web and mobile apps that assess the connection between arts-based activities and outcomes like mental health, well-being, and ecological behaviour.
These tools not only ensure that efforts are making a tangible difference but also provide a foundation for scaling initiatives and inspiring similar models globally.
Collaboration and Partnerships
Marianne’s recognition also highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainability. Through TCAF, she has cultivated relationships with organisations, artists, academia, public institutions, and local communities, amplifying the impact of shared goals. These collaborations strengthen the foundation for systemic change, demonstrating that collective efforts are key to creating a sustainable and inclusive future.
Among these partnerships, the support from Noleen Mariappen, Founder of Impactoverse, stands out as an illustration of the power of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), showcasing how collaboration drives innovation and sustainability.
Looking Ahead
This recognition is an meaningful accolade for Marianne Magnin and TCAF, serving as a reminder of the ongoing work required to address environmental challenges. As they continue to scale their initiatives and foster global collaborations, TCAF looks forward to expanding partnerships among the 99 other voices recognised and to be recognised in this initiative, strengthening collective efforts for sustainability and impact.
